Another look at a plum blossom. Lovely flowers. Most of his friends haven’t bloomed yet, but this one is doing pretty good!

If you are interested in Japan, you may have heard of hanami, or flower-viewing, and furthermore you may know this event refers to enjoying the cherry blossoms, even having a meal and some sake beneath them. But did you know that a long time ago, the Plum blossom was more popular than the sakura, and that hanami referred to plum blossom watching? I haven’t been able to find much info on why, but the plum blossom is preferred in China, so that may have been why it was so loved in old Japan.
