I was intending on some long exposure photography here, but there wasn’t as much traffic as I had hoped. It was a Sunday night, after all, I suppose.

But I got to enjoy a great view of the sun, so all the time spent at this location was far from wasted.

iPhone 4S

Does anyone have an iPhone 4S yet? I’m not upgrading, but I am mighty tempted by the new camera on that thing. If you have one, let me know your thoughts on it in the comments.

Busy Street

The highway on the ground is the Tokaido Highway. The corner I took this shot from was a resting point on the original Tokaido Road, the ancient highway between Edo (Tokyo) and Kyoto. Most people I talk to don’t bat an eye at this history, but I always find it interesting. Thinking I am sitting (or was, before I took this shot) in the same place a samurai may have been 400 years ago… Blows my mind a little.

Convenience Stores (konbini) in Japan are kind of like Starbucks—you find them everywhere. In larger cities you may even find multiple ones in a single block, and more a block over. They are extremely popular, but the margins must be very narrow because they are constantly going out of business. There is a location near me (not the one photoed below) that has been host to several different konbinis; one goes bankrupt, then another builds up on the exact same location a few weeks later, and repeat. Crazy business.

I was on my nightly photo walk here and decided to get a photo of this place. Even at dusk, look at how bright it is in there!
