I just gave this the offhand title “Portal”, but then someone on Google+ commented: “Twilight Zone”. Perfect! I can almost hear Rod Sterling’s creepy voiceover as I look at this photo.

This makes me thing of Inception, of Limbo. I still like that movie, but I thought all the pointless gun fights took away from it. And what was with the ski fight? It’s like they were trying to remake a bad Roger Moore James Bond film.

A nice temple I stumbled onto a few weeks ago. The clouds were really awesome that day!

I don’t remember why I snapped this shot of the side of my neighbor’s house. But I liked the result when I opened it up in Lightroom. Maybe it is the simplicity, maybe the nice texture of the house, or maybe it is that the two windows look like eyes and the foundation line like a mouth (The drainage pipe? A scar maybe. Yakuza house.).

This is something simple and attractive about black and white photography. When you eliminate all color, other details grab the eye.

One of my favorite books of all time is Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance by Robert Pirsig. So imagine my surprise when I get to Japan and one of the first places I run across is a bar with the same name.

If you are a photographer – amateur, pro, or enthusiast – and you aren’t taking at least weekly photo walks, you are really missing out. I try to take an evening walk daily. Even when I happen to take the same route I did a few days before, there is always something new to see and photo. Maybe something I looked straight at and ignored the previous few times I saw it, but for some reason it jumps out at me this time. You just never know, and that’s why I think this is a great exercise.
