Little darling, it’s been a long, cold, lonely winter
Little darling, it feels like years since it’s been here
Here comes the sun
Doo doo doo doo
Here comes the sun and I say

The Grass is Always Greener…
Isn’t it funny how we always look forward to summer so much, but as soon as it arrives we instantly start complaining about how hot it is? All of us do this, of course, but it does jump out at me a bit more in Japan. Atsui—It’s so hot—becomes a mantra chanted almost continuously in public. Weather, it would seem, is the one constant that everyone feels free to complain about, in the US and in Japan.
Personally, I prefer to embrace whatever we are given.
“What day is it?”
“It’s today,” squeaked Piglet.
“My favorite day,” said Pooh.
~ A.A. Milne
In this case what we are given may be hot weather, but on the positive side, we also get longer days (great for photography), summer festivals, thunderstorms, great camping conditions, and bug noises. Yea, I love the sound of bugs, especially the cicada. There is something soothing about it.
Yes, many Japanese I talk to tell me I’m strange.
Daily Photo: It’s Been a Cold and Lonely Winter
I don’t know why the Beatles lyric pops into my head for this photo. It wasn’t an especially cold or lonely day when I took this photo, nor was the Winter so bad. But after processing the image that is the general feeling I get when looking at it.
Nice sky, eh?
