The other day I was given a tour of a relatively new temple (new as in only a hundred and fifty years old) in Okazaki, Mikawa Betsuin, a pretty large temple near the downtown area of the city. It is a beautiful complex there.
After touring, I returned to the main temple hall and took a great many photos. This is the alter area there. You can see the statue of the Buddha there and the seat for the head priest in front, along with some scrolls containing sutras to chant.
I’m always impressed by the level of detail at these temples. Look at it all. I especially like the lotus blossoms on the cabinets at the back of the room.

Impressive!
I agree. These places always impress the heck out of me!
You can tell they were built with absolute love… you can’t put that much detail into something that doesn’t mean something to you. Brilliant shot!
Thanks, Kristi.
Yeah, lots of care goes into these temples.
wow man, looks amazing. So much that you could shoot there I bet!
Thanks
Yeah, there was. And I did!
It’s a great shot. And HDRing it makes it look like something from a sci-fi movie. Awesome!
Thanks, Anna
Sci-fi, eh? The Buddha from Outer Space!
Wow, that’s dazzling! Is that all brass or gold or what?

I’m not sure to be honest. I can’t imagine it’d be real gold, but who knows. Sure looks nice tho, huh?
