Daily Photo: Old Japanese Shack [32/365]

It’s not uncommon to see old rundown houses like this around Japanese neighborhoods. Here’s another. From what I have read and been told, after WW2 the government encouraged people to throw up whatever they could, so for a long time poorly constructed shacks like this were the norm. They are slowly disappearing, but many still remain.

I had some fun processing today’s photo, giving it a mostly b&w look, with just a few hints of color along the house. I also burnt down the edges a little. Sometimes I think it helps isolate the scene in a way that a border by itself cannot. Maybe. It could also just be a phase I’m going through.

As always, what do you think?
