Fantasy Shrine

This is the main shrine of Iga Hachimangu. The general public is blocked from accessing it by a wall, so all we can do is look. I’m not sure why it’s blocked, but actually it does seem to be relatively common for shrines to limit access to the main building. We aren’t clean enough or something.

You can go look at more photos of Iga Hachimangu here.

As I sometimes do for these shots of traditional things, I applied some blur and glow in Photoshop to give this a bit of an unreal, dreamy appearance. Maybe I’m just playing to the stereotype that Japan is some kind of fantasy land of the gods by doing this, but oh well… I like the effect it gives the pic.
