Lit Up House

A small update on the newsletter: It has been a huge success, more than I ever thought it would be. We are up to issue 13 (due out later today) and so far the average open rate is over 300% for every issue. I was told this rate would drop off the longer I ran the newsletter, but it is still going strong. Thank you so much everyone for your support. I’m glad everyone likes it.

Daily HDR Photo — Lit Up House

Today’s photo is a cool house I came across as I was looking for a good place to set up for a shot of the sunset. I liked how the light was hitting it.

Lit up house

This is a good example of a modern Japanese house.

See the air condition unit? It’s more of a heat pump, really, because it doubles as a heater in the winter. Anyway, there is no central air in Japanese houses, so the house has one of those for every room they want to keep cool (or warm).

My eyes are also drawn to the metal shutters on every window. All modern houses have these. You can almost tell the time of day by the sound of these opening all over the neighborhood in the morning and closing at night.
