Today’s photo is a pair of Japanese Buddhist lanterns.

About
They were originally Buddhist, anyway. These days they are also used at Shinto Shrines and even in home gardens.
Called Tōrō1 in Japanese, there are a great many kinds. The main one in the photo is Yukimi-dōrō but I’m not sure what type the background one is. Anyone?
Update: Buddhism expert and brilliant photographer Junpei Hayakawa informed me the background one is Oribe-dōrō.

In the rear, oribe-dõrõ.
I love Japanese lanterns.
its good for front yard garden, can I install lamp inside??
Sure. Many shrines use electric lamps inside of them these days, so it is a common thing to do.
Me too!
