Daily HDR Photo — Very Yellow Flowers

Today’s photo is the backs of some flowers as they blow in the breeze.

About

I didn’t like this shot at first, but then I thought flower photography is extremely common. Flowers are probably one of the most photographed subjects, in fact. But how many shoot the backs of the flowers? You guys know I am always trying to be a bit different from the crowd in my photography, so here is something a little different for you. Hope you enjoy it.

Anyone know the name of this flower, by the way? It looks like it is from the Daisy family. I polled the fine folks on twitter and got a few answers. Someone told me it was a Yellow Chrysanthemum. Another said it was a Garland Chrysanthemum (also called a Crown Daisy). A Japanese responder told me it was シュンギク which is in fact Garland Chrysanthemum, so that one has two votes. If you are a botanist or otherwise a flower person and know for sure, please let me know in the comments.

Hope you enjoyed the photo, friends. If you enjoyed that, be sure to subscribe to our RSS feed to stay up to date. Also, sign-up for the free newsletter to receive the best photos of the week in your inbox — every week! Sign-up now and you’ll also receive a free gift.

Finally, if you enjoy the daily photos, please consider supporting this site. I love giving away my photos to you guys, but I do have bills to pay (including for this site). Even as little as 50 cents would be much appreciated and would help keep JapanDave running. You can make a one-time contribution here or a $2 recurring contribution here. If you’d like some other options, visit my donation page. Thank you so much. (^_^)
