I have to get more creative with these titles…
Anyway, today’s shot is Higashi-Okazaki train station. You can also catch buses here too, but trains are the main thing. Ever wanted to see a Japanese train station from the outside? Here you go.

Kind of an ugly thing, isn’t it? A lot of these old stations weren’t exactly the best designed places around. This particular one has seen better days. It is due to be renovated in a few years, so maybe that will improve the look a bit.
The sky here is interesting, eh?
Rainy season is in full force currently in Japan. Rainy season typically brings showers all day — every day — for a month. Occasionally, however, the rain will stop and the clouds will open to let the sun in for a few minutes. That’s what happened here.
The clouds started to part and the light came in, but the sinking sun combined with all the rain clouds did some really weird things to it. One thing about HDR: If the light is doing strange things, it will look even stranger in the final photo. I kind of like it, so I left it in, but I did fade and blur it a bit so it isn’t as strong as it was in the original.
What do you think?
Photofest Japan
If any of our readers are interested, there is a 3-day photo workshop in Akihabara in about a week and a half. There will be 3 pros there giving various classes: Juan Pons, Hal Schmitt, and Rick Sammon. I’m a huge Rick Sammon fan, so I would fully recommend going to this event just to meet him.
Anyone interested should visit photofest where you can sign up. The nice guys behind this event ask me to tell you that any signups include a free dinner with the pros on the 29th. Sweet! Check it out. If you do sign up, be sure to mention you heard about the event at JapanDave.
Thank you for reading. If you enjoyed the post, please share it with your buddies on the web. A few options below. Thank you so much :)

That stations looks hideous. And yet it’s functional simplicity makes it somewhat interesting.
Yeah, I know! Many meitetsu stations seem to look exactly the same as this, but JR doesn’t seem much better. In fact, JR Okazaki is even uglier. I swear.. what were the designers thinking..

Waaaahhhh… Too bad it’s not on a weekend. The photofest, I mean.

I really like this pic. The trees either side really draw me into the picture and makes me want to find out more. I think this is one of my fave’s of your recent HDR’s.
BTW, at the top, right of the page, there are rss/email/twitter links. For some reason I’m always checking for a Flickr link there.
I think you meant this comment on the Atami photo, right? Hmmm…I don’t seem to have any options to move comments. But at any rate, thanks
Hmm.. flickr link at the top. I’ll look into it!
