I wrote about Hachiko a while back, the loyal Akita dog who waited around for his master day after day at the train station for ten years after his master’s death.
If you missed that, go read it now!
Today I can across a nice tribute to Hachiko on Futurama. As you may know, Futurama is normally a pretty goofy show. This tribute, however, is very touching. Better go get some tissues before you watch.

Hey Dave,
I found an old Richard Gere movie called “Hachi” while perusing Netflix. It is based on the story of Hachiko. I haven’t watched it, but thought I would pass it on to you.

I remember feeling sad for Seymore when he stood there waiting for Fry :/ And the song just makes even more sad.
Then recently I saw Hachiko: A Dog’s Story. The sadest movie I’ve seen so far. Even sader than Philadelphia, which has been the benchmark for sad stories for me since it got released.
And just today when I told a friend about Fry and Futurama, asking him if he remembered that episode, it hit me that it was probably a tribute to Hachiko
And such a nice one!
