    Hi Dave,

I’m sure you aren’t surprised that I’m commenting on language. I’m having a little difficulty loading the link, but are these real-time courses or learn as you go curriculum? Have you started any of these courses, and if so, how’s the commitment factor? I know it’s difficult but not impossible to learn a language on your own. However, the type of materials used in learning a language play a big role in keeping you motivated.

They are all real-time. Every class has a start time. You download special software…basically looks like a chat box wrapped around a video window, so you can watch the teacher and also submit questions. koichi also talks about some other features of it in his post I linked to.

I haven’t been able to do any myself. Most of them seem to be based in America, so the time difference means they are offered when I am asleep here or in the very early morning, and the rest are offered on days I work. Figures, eh? But there are hundreds of them and I haven’t checked all yet. As to commitment… well, you sign up for the class so you are expected, but being it is the thru the net I doubt much of a fuss is made if you miss, so the motivation for attending still rides on you.

Let me know if you try any.
